The Heart & Vision of Houser Raspberry Ranch

Preserving History, Cultivating Community

At Houser Raspberry Ranch, we believe in honoring the past while building for the future. Originally established in the 1850s, this historic ranch has long been a beacon of tradition, agriculture, and community in the Mora Valley. Once a thriving economic hub, our iconic grist mill played a crucial role in supporting local farmers and supplying Fort Union with flour during the Civil War.

Through the years, the ranch became a beloved destination for families—especially for those who came to pick raspberries during the height of the harvest season. When the opportunity arose to restore and revitalize this incredible property, we knew it was a calling we couldn’t ignore.

Restoring a Landmark: The Hacienda & Beyond

The Historic Hacienda, an 8,000-square-foot treasure, suffered significant water damage in 2023, but we were determined to bring it back to life. With careful restoration, this magnificent structure will soon be fully restored by April 2025, featuring:

Eight beautifully restored bedrooms and five bathrooms

Comfortably accommodates groups while providing privacy.

A full kitchen with commercial-grade appliances

Cook and entertain with ease using commercial-grade appliances.

A wine cellar to preserve and celebrate fine flavors

Store and enjoy fine wines in an intimate, temperature-controlled setting.

Scenic Views & Historical Charm

Experience the authentic beauty of a meticulously restored 19th-century landmark.

We envision the Hacienda as a gathering space—hosting weddings, executive retreats, family reunions, and community events like Toys for Tots, which welcomed over 300 children and families last year.

Meanwhile, RAZZ Café, a longtime local favorite, is undergoing a full renovation. By spring, it will serve a full menu featuring:

Beyond food and lodging, our five greenhouses will be restored soon, bringing back a vibrant nursery filled with flowers, plants, herbs, and fresh produce for our café.

A New Chapter: Reviving the Ranch’s Treasured Traditions

Our vision extends far beyond restoration. We are committed to reviving the legendary U-PICK-IT raspberry fields, ensuring future generations can experience the joy of harvesting fresh raspberries from the land.

We also reopened and expanded the General Store in 2025, offering:

Looking Ahead: A Vision for the Future

The future of Houser Raspberry Ranch is as exciting as its rich history. Our long-term vision includes

A weekend steakhouse, beer garden, and fire-baked pizza at the Mill

An RV park with generous space between sites

A roping arena and horse barn for visiting equestrians

An amphitheater for live music and community events

Why We Chose Houser Raspberry Ranch

For Phil & Theresa Houser, this ranch is more than just a property—it’s the realization of a lifelong dream.

Phil’s love for Northern New Mexico began in childhood, growing up in Rociada, a small town nestled in the mountains. He spent his days riding horses, fishing in the backyard stream, and sledding down snowy hills in the winter. These formative years left an indelible mark; decades later, he knew he had to return.

The journey wasn’t immediate. After searching for the perfect ranch for eight years, the couple purchased Houser Raspberry Ranch after Theresa unexpectedly fell in love with the area during the COVID-19 pandemic. What started as a temporary escape in their fifth-wheel camper turned into a lifelong passion to restore and revitalize this historic property.

More Than a Ranch—A Legacy

Houser Raspberry Ranch is not just about preserving a historic site—it’s about building a thriving community. Every decision, from reviving the raspberry fields to expanding lodging and dining options, is rooted in a desire to connect people with the land, with history, and with each other.

We welcome families, travelers, history lovers, and adventure seekers to experience the magic of this land and be part of its next chapter. Whether you’re here for a wedding, a weekend getaway, or a simple stop for ice cream, we hope you leave with a sense of home, history, and belonging.
